Blocked tear duct

DS has had a blocked tear duct since birth. The GP won't do anything about it and he's 9m now and every day he has a constant gunky eye. The HV said to gently rub it so that it clears and it works but it's honestly constant! My older child had this as well (in exactly the same eye) but it cleared up because she cried so much in the first 6 months (reflux baby). Can anyone recommend anything to help?

No advice but DD had this and it led to pre-orbital cellulitis when she was 6 weeks old which required a hospital stay. It was awful but the ophthalmologist said they would want to see her back at 1 year old if the ducts hadn't unblocked themselves by then. Maybe start pushing for a referral soon...

My daughter had this at a week old, we spent three days in hospital with her hooked up to a drip. She had surgery at 6 months to unblock it and it’s not been an issue since.

My dd had the same from birth and it took a good 12 months to go massage the bit between the eye and nose 3 times a day that's my only advice and keep it clean

My 4 month old has this and I’m wondering when it will clear. He’s had antibiotic drops but it’s been swabbed and there’s no infection so definitely a blocked tear duct. I’m massaging it and wiping clean but it is constantly gunky.

My ds was exactly the same, they wouldn’t do anything until he turned one.

We had to take him to the hospital and they put him under very briefly, he knew nothing about it, took 2 minutes to sort it
