Stressful meals

My son has recently turned 1 and absolutely loves his food but has started hysterically crying/ screaming after finishing his food and then while I clean up. After he’s out the highchair he’s then absolutely fine. Has anyone else experienced this? It’s quite stressful and making me dread meal times a bit 😩. He also shoves food in his mouth like he’s never been fed before but I’m giving him pretty big portions and he doesn’t continue to cry after so I don’t think he’s hungry, I feel it’s more a tantrum because it’s gone but would love to hear other experiences.

He is just bored and wants to get out the highchair I imagine, mine is the same.

Can you end the meal on something that's not messy to eat and clean up while he has that? Blueberries or similar.

Just get him out the highchair when he's finished. Let him crawl about while you clean up. Or give him a cloth and let him join in.
