allergic reaction or viral infection

last night after my 8 month old had his tea i took his clothes off to get his pyjama’s on.
His arms looked red & swollen. They were also really hot to touch.
He’s seems a little bit off it. could this be a reaction or caused by a viral infection?

Could it be sunburn?

otherwise - was he wearing a long sleeved top that has been washed in something different to normal?

I’d take that to A and E. Is it some sort of joint swelling like reactive arthritis? Has he had any jabs?

he did have a long sleeve top on & it wasn’t sunny where we live yesterday it was just strange how it came on after tea. He used to react to dairy but he’s grown out of it now & he would always get hives around his mouth & neck never on his arm.
it also went down after around an hour i left his top off for a while.
but also it could of been washed in not his own wash powder if it’s got mixed in! i never thought of that! thanks

A friend of mine had this with her son recently and it was an ear infection. Doctor said it's a common odd side effect - one red hot limb that comes and goes on the same side as the infection
