Air up

Would you let your kids spend their birthday money on Air up water bottles?? My twins are insisting they want them but I am so shocked at the price! £35 for a water bottle and then you need to buy more pods! It is their money though so maybe should I just let them have them even though it seems like a waste? I'm also worried it won't even work for them.

I don't think they work that well so no. I work on a stem project and we bought some for a workshop I think they were not great

Yes, it's their money and if that's what they want I'd let them. My dd got one with her Xmas money and to be honest they are a waste of money and hers leaks and I can't taste the flavours but that's what she wanted to spend her money on.

We guided our DC towards a third party equivalent (bottle found on eBay with cartridges from Etsy). It does exactly the same thing at a fraction of the cost. The bottle was £12, which is still overpriced IMO but a reasonable compromise. We generally go with allowing DCs free choice on how they spend their money (better they learn the hard lessons now), but will strongly advise against things on the rare occasion they are a total rip off.

Thanks for the advise all. I've given in an ordered it for them. Found a 20% off code on here that softens the blow a bit. If it was my money then there's no way I would buy it but as it's their money I've decided to let them spend it even if I do think it's a waste. If they are rubbish then it will be a lesson learned for them.

My dd10 got one for Christmas and still uses it every day !
it won’t leak if you tighten the lid on it , if you look on utube you will find a video on how to tighten it .
we still have the first batch of pods , I got her 12 altogether and she puts them in the fridge over night which helps them keep the scent .
I was originally not going to buy one for her and gave in as her close friends were getting them and honestly was a great purchase !
She was good at drinking water anyway but drinks tons every day now!

You don't mention their age which I think would be relevant for me.

I lean towards no because I know them to be shite so would steer my DC towards reviews etc showing that. Then if they still wanted them, also depending on how much money they had (I wouldn't let them spend this if they only had a small amount), then yes it's a lesson for them. I don't think they will learn much of a lesson by blindly buying them without being helped or encouraged (age depending) to do research first.

If they are very young it would be a flat no.

My 12 year old bought one with her birthday money, we used discount code too and they sent her more codes for the pods also after she bought. She drinks so much more water now where before she didn't. I'm not sure why as I thought it was terrible to drink from 😆

My son asked for one for Xmas and he loves his. They are expensive for what they are but he does drink a lot more now.
I have a 20% code if any wants to try. Think it's only for new customers only

Get 20% off at air up

I recently used air up and they gave me a special offer to share with my friends. I’m treating you to an exclusive 20% off your first order. I’ll also get a reward, so it’s a win-win!

DC10 really insisted they wanted one, so I caved and got it at Christmas, but warned them it might not live up to the hype and secretly thinking it would be a good life lesson.
However here we are in early June and it’s still used every day. We still have the original set of pods (9 of them I think). Their sibling now has one too.
We’ve never had problems with leaks, but they do have to be a bit diligent about washing them as it can get a bit nasty around the pod after a while.
Both of them drink so much more water now, so it’s definitely a yes from us. Although we were always a water only household, no sugary drinks, but they just used to drink a lot less of it. Not sure how it would compete against fully flavoured drinks though…

They will drink more water if they have one. Don't think that a bad thing.
My children like water they tried a friend air up didn't like it.
They are very popular and children tell me kids who have them are refilling at school all day they drink so much
