Is this normal 6 year old behaviour?!

6 year old has had numerous quirks over the years which I'm not sure are usual.

He refuses to go into class for the last 6 months, finally goes in once the teacher speaks to him.

He says various things in school are too loud. He hates school.

If we change routine, eg. Have desert midweek, he questions it all the time.

We cannot change our plans else he will have a full blown meltdown.

Has to restart a conversation/sentence if interuppted.

Gets frustrated and shouts very quickly.

Hes very loud.

He cannot make decisions easily.

Constantly answering back/dosnt listen.

Anyone else's 6 year old boys like this?

Some of it sounds like very common six year old behaviour.

Some of it sounds less usual.

Do school have any concerns about his behaviour? I'd ask for a meeting with his teacher to discuss how he is in the class/whether they have any concerns or have noticed any unusual behaviour.

Are you asking could your child be neuro divergent? Yes, some of those things may be linked to that. But also they may not.

You need to speak to school if you are wondering about this.

Some of these traits describe my 6yo DD who is awaiting an ADHD assessment, but it's hard to know what is normal and what isn't sometimes....

Sounds like one of my children at that age and they are now formally diagnosed autistic. It was at this age they were referred for assessment. My other NT child had occasional outbursts but it’s the frequency and total panic caused by changes that really rung alarm bells for my other child.
