I use a teaspoon of solid lanolin with a squirt of baby bath. I put it in a jam jar and pour a little boiling water on it and stir until it goes to an emulsion. Then I add it to the bowl of water (so it's just warm, not hot iyswim) and put the wool bits in. I leave it all day, or overnight if I do it in an evening.

It always seems fine once it's dried.

Have never used the woolcure stuff so don't know if it feels the same or not.

HTH

hmmm, ok norma, thanks.

im not sure i used enough lanolin then. i used a small tube of that nipple lanolin stuff and it was cold, and so a bugger to get out the tube. i gave up at approx a pea sized amount... that;ll be a petit pois, rather than your marrowfat.

doh.

the woolcure is so much easier btw. more expensive no doubt...

normabutty · 14/02/2008 20:51

I get my solid lanolin in a jar from Under The Gooseberry Bush, I guess it seems easy enough to use cos I've never used anything else. I keep meaning to give the woolcure a go but cos it costs more I haven't bothered. I might try it when I've used up the lanolin i've got.

Flamesparrow · 14/02/2008 21:32

lmao @ sappy snappy whatever.

Do I say a peasized bit on my site? I have always used a teaspoon cos it is easier to get out.

Shall we do a lanolising master class next week?

Flamesparrow · 14/02/2008 21:33

Oh it doesn't feel the same though - the wool cure always has more of a sticky waxy feel on your hands than proper lanolin does. It always works though

SappyLamour · 14/02/2008 21:45

yes, thats it! a sticky waxy feeling... that is lacking with my measly petit pois sized squirt of lanolin.

but if you say it works, then i bow at your altar of piss resistant wool knowledge

and yes, to the masterclass next week

Flamesparrow · 14/02/2008 21:55

lmao
