Siblings sharing a room (with a 5 yr age gap)

Anyone have siblings sharing with a big(ger) age gap?

Son is 7.5, daughter almost 3. They want to have bunk beds in what is currently my son’s room. Her current nursery could be a play room?

I am thinking that it might not be long before he needs his own space? I imagine in a year or so he’ll be wanting friends to sleepover? Anyone have experience of a bigger age gap sharing a room?

opinions and experiences welcome/needed x

My daughters aged 8 & 3 (both birthdays in the same month) share a room with bunk beds and it's fine so far, no issues or plans to change anytime soon. We'll most likely re-evaluate when our elder daughter is 11 or so..

All siblings on MN seem to have their own room but irl most kids I know share. Though saying that since you have the room then no I wouldn’t put them in the same room.

My youngest 2 were fine sharing a room until the middle one got to 8 and then he was adamant he didn’t want to any more.

My two are 4 years apart - by the time oldest was 10 they really did need own rooms.

Ok I don’t have the bigger age gap, but I have a DS10 and DD8 (but they are 3 years apart) who still share.
If either of them have a friend to sleepover, the other one sleeps in the spare room for the night.
They are happy still sharing at the moment, but DS starts secondary this September, so I imagine that will be the point at which they have their own rooms.
They absolutely adore each other though, which is why they are happy to still share!
