Constipation

Leahmaya01 · 11/04/2023 10:15

My son is 9 week old he is really struggling to pass a bowel movement to the point he screams in pain, he also has an umbilical hernia so I have been up to a&e twice to see if this could be related but they have been useless. He’s on Hipp organic formula because aptamil wasn’t working well for him, I’ve tried all the exercises , warm baths , prune juice , cool boiled water and still no improvement :( does anyone have any advice I feel like I’m at a standstill.

Is his poo hard?

Leahmaya01 · 11/04/2023 13:29

So his last fresh wet poo was Wednesday in-between then he’s had one or two soiled nappies but just little tiny bits of hard old poo but literally the tiniest bit I wouldn’t even class it as a poo.

Has he been checked by GP for dairy allergy? That causes constipation and switching to a non dairy milk can help a lot in those cases (but you need a prescription for it)

If he has a blockage (hard dried poo stuck) then you will need prescription laxatives as well.

He’s in with the GP tomorrow as the hospital haven’t helped at all, Thankyou !

He’s already on laxatives prescribed by the hospital and they aren’t helping that’s why I think something is wrong.
