5.5 month old not holding things?

DS is 5.5 months old and I’m a bit worried. He doesn’t really hold things for longer than a few seconds. Sometimes he will try to grab my clothes or my hair and put it into his mouth but whenever I try to make him hold a toy or something, he’s not interested and he drops it straight away or a few seconds later. I’m worried, is this normal? When do babies learn how to reach for things and grasp them? DS will sometimes hold my hand when I’m feeding him or try to hold my clothes but not objects if that makes sense. Normal or not?

Perfectly normal for a baby of that age to be not interested in a toy.

Is your child now holding toys?
My baby exactly doing the same now. Please answer

@PRO23 I would say your HV / GP is the best person to answer, as they can assess your DC. One person's experience likely won't have the same outcome for another.
