Could I have damaged my baby’s hearing?

I was holding my one-month old baby today and the bottle of formula I was about to feed her came undone and I shouted for my partner in surprise without thinking about it - quite a loud shout as the door was closed and he was listening to his phone in the other room. I’m suddenly panicking that such a loud shout could have permanently damaged her hearing - can anyone reassure me? FTM and natural worrier here… she went for her hearing test recently and passed with flying colours.

Don't worry if that was all it took to damage a baby's hearing then there would be a lot more kids with hearing problems

I understand the worry though, I had the same thought when I dog barked really loudly next to my baby's pram and it was only later that I thought how common that must be 😅

She’ll be fine. There are babies born in war zones who experience really loud noises and they’re fine.

It's extremely unlikely that any damage has occurred. To damage the hearing it has to be very loud and prolonged noise ..

But I understand your worry. When my daughter was 2 months old I went to my sisters garden birthday party There was a tent in the garden blasting out very loud music, but i kept out of it and stayed in the house where it was quiet. I needed the loo and asked my very sensible 15 year old neice to hold the baby.. Came out to find neice in the tent with my baby daughter surrounded by very loud, deafening techno music. I rushed her out and was worried sick about my baby's hearing for months She is now 4 yrs old and absolutely perfect, no concerns with hearing at all.
