Baby forgotten how to roll, is this normal?

FTM so I'm a little anxious about things. Can anyone advise if the same has happened to their baby?

When my baby was 3 months old she rolled tummy to back 5 times then never did it again.

A few days ago (now 5 months old) she learned how to roll back to front. She would get stuck on her tummy each timr but still liked doing it. She was OBSESSED with doing it for 2 days and just did it constantly, every time she was placed on the floor.

Now as of yesterday, she wont do it anymore! If I give her a push she can do it but otherwise she isn't doing it. She screams when placed on her back (with frustration?) until distracted with funny faces or other games.

She is generally being quite fussy and is an alert and active baby.

Could this be something to worry about? Will she remember again?

Thanks for reading!

Sounds normal to me. My daughter rolled one single time at 3 months, then not again until 4.5 months. She then practised rolling religiously for some period of time, before no longer being bothered about it and I also worried something terrible had happened.

( I can't remember what happened with rolling the other way).

For context, my daughter ended up walking at a very average 13 months.

Hope that helps!

That's so reassuring, thank you!

Totally normal, DD spent a couple of days gleefully rolling and then never did it again for another month or two

yeah, some development comes on in bursts & delays, they seem to do something then stop completely for a while. It must be fine to discover their own little bodies & what they can do.

Completely normal, DS only rolled about twice and then not again for months.

Ah that's so helpful, thank you for the prompt and reassuring responses!

I do wonder if she's now focused on trying to sit up instead as she only seems happy when she's being held up at the moment, and she's kicking her little legs and waving her arms.

My daughter rolled once, that was it! She's a very active and healthy 5 year old now!

Another voice saying this is normal! I mean it's not like they roll about to get places.

They do these things in fits and starts. My DS took his first steps at 13 months, to rapturous applause, and then went back to crawling for another six weeks! It's frustrating but completely normal.

Thanks so much all, very reassuring and I will stop panicking now. 🤗
