Tips to help tackle DS constant shouting

He is almost 4 and over the past 6 months or so has been getting worse with constant yelling. I don’t think it’s hearing related as he can hear very subtle noises, and also ramps it up and adds some shrieking etc when I give attention to his younger sibling.

It’s making for a really unpleasant environment. I grew up in a very loud, shouty household and I’m finding it very hard to deal with.

Any tips to nip this in the bud would be very appreciated!

What worked with DD when she went through a shouty phrase was to respond back in a quiet voice that I couldn't understand what she was saying when she yelled and ask her to tell me again in a quieter voice. I stuck to that message consistently.

Thanks @FatAgainItsLettuceTime - I will try that. Although sometimes it’s not when talking ‘to’ anyone it’s just general noise making!

Have you tried walking him away and saying come in and try that again quieter?

My ds does have hearing issues he genuinely doesn't know when he is shouting and as it's on one side he was confused why everyone was shouting back 😒
