Ideas for being a goofy and fun mum?

Hi Everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas for being a more fun and silly parent. I used to be such a light hearted and silly person but when I was a teenager I was abused by a partner and it changed my whole personality.

I'm starting to heal and find myself again but I have no idea who I am as a mother anymore. I want to show my children that silly side of me. I want them giggling saying "mummy your so weird" any ideas?

I’m at my most carefree and ‘fun’ when I’m out at playgrounds, climbing frames, indoor play, basically stuff where I can be physical with the kids and have fun with them and it not be something I have to try too hard at.

I’ve got girls, so also dressing up, taking funny photos. That sort of thing.

I'm in a similar situation: abusive ex and it has completely sucked the fun out of me, so watching with interest.
Things I do: I work hard to cut myself some slack. I am doing the best I can.
Also lying down on the floor somehow invites the kids to climb all over me and then we all laugh a lot. Similarly lying down on my bed (flopping backwards kind of thing) while sorting the washing.

Dance party? Although I find this requires me to have lots of energy in the first place.

Depends on how old your DCs are. Once they reach a certain age there is a very fine line between a fun, goofy mum and being a total embarrassment 😁

I don't know if I'm a fun mum or not but I do love to sing along to the radio. I do a great (and by great I mean terrible) mum dance. I pull silly faces and tell daft jokes. My dc are 10 & 12 and they cringe but love it too and often join in.

Your a mum. Not a fun goofy teenager. That is fine but please don't try and act as something you are not. It is try hard and embarrassing. Everyone changes over time and there is reason for that.

Fun is one thing, you can definitely learn to be fun- not sure about goofy! Goofy sounds to me like a wreckless adult.
having fun with your children is important, what do they enjoy? What ages are they?

So mine always say Muuuuum stop it youre weird, while laughing though.
Sometimes I chase them round the house pretending to be a monster, sometimes I jump out from behind doors and roar at them, sometimes they come and roar at me and I scream and pretend to fall over. I dance all the time and make up stupid dance moves and teach them to the kids, we do a lot of dressing up and pretend play (this does include me dressing up). We play a lot of very noisy games with a lot of screaming and shouting. Even down to things like races for wind up toys, I get the kids all shouting and screaming. We do a lot of tickling, running, jumping off things.
Sometimes we play things like the floor is lava, blindfolded tick, musical statues, just any game that involves being a bit silly.
When I'm driving I often have the music loud and sing and dance...for the baby it's cocomelon, for the eldest it's nicki minaj. Eldest is 13 but I'm 31 so I apparently still sit in the cool mom category.
Basically my house is noisy af but they're always laughing. It helps that my partner is similar to me..the kids find it hilarious when he does things like pick me up and put me in the wheely bin or sometimes when I need to get something from a high place we do a bit of a circus act where I stand on his hands. None of this is sensible and the kids are insane as a result..4 year old started the day today shouting about zombies at 6am.
