im a first time mum, my 4 week old baby boy (8lb 9.5 when born) is currently finishing (mostly every time) 6oz bottles. he feeds 4/5 times a day with spaces of 4-6 hours, im just asking for advice if this is okay for a 4 week old? and if he is finishing the bottle should i offer a bigger feed? i cant find anything online at all and i know that every baby is different, just want to make sure im not over or under feeding him

i will also add that we are doing paced feeding and stop 2/3 times for a burp break, he is currently 4.85 kg and was 3.9kg when he was born, in his red book he is between the 50th and 75th centile

Yea if he's finishing 6floz I'd offer 7 but personally I wouldn't let such a young baby go that long between feeds in the day, I'd be offering every 3.5 hours at least.

The volume sounds okay (though you could offer a little more) - it’s more the frequency that’s perhaps not as often as it should be. My DD is 12 weeks and if I remember correctly I was told to leave no more than 3 hours during the newborn weeks - hope that helps! (You might find if feeding more often the volume per feed may decrease slightly)

Most bottle fed babies of his age feed at least 6 times in 24 hours. I would offer feeds at least every 3 hours in the day time, but allow him to go as long as he chooses between feeds at night.
