When do babies get used to shoes?

So! We’ve had Clark’s pre walkers on our 15mo

hes now walking a bit, not fully but I’d say walks more than sits and he does it well barefoot and in the Clark’s shoes

i tried a normal pair of trainers as the Clark’s shoes are pretty worn, and he lost his balance a bit in it I assume cos they were heavier!

im going to buy a new clean pair of Clark’s shoes , I was seeing if I could use the £30 and get a normal pair not the pre walkers

but how do I help him get used to normal shoes to walk in? Any tips appreicated

ps- he’s had shoes on for nursery

Nothing for it but practice I'm afraid! Put them on him and lot him toddle around. He'll soon get used to them.

@CoalCraft Yea I’ll have to do it at home really! We usually let him barefoot at home but when he went to nursery in the normal shoes he was losing balance so they put the pre walkers back on him as it was a bit of a safety issue!

thank you

Just keep him in pre-walkers or barefoot for now. They need a thin, flexible sole at this point. It's better for their feet in addition to helping them walk better.

Plenty of time to get him into trainers.

Shoes aren't recommended before they walk anyway so don't stress about it.

Shoes are recommended for 6 weeks after they start walking.

My son was walking for a couple months before we got him fitted for shoes. He was a bit unsteady and walking funny for a bit but after awhile they just get used to it. We used to take him to the park and let him run around on the grass so he didn't hurt himself when he fell over.

They get there. Just stick with the prewalkers for now. My DD walked at 9 months and had tiny feet so was in prewalkers for ages because there were so few options in her size. She was fine in them even when she was an extremely confident walker. If you do really really want trainers though then the nike star runners are super light and have a nice flexible sole, maybe try those.

Buy proper barefoot shoes

Much better for their growing feet!

My little one was the same, and I got worried as I had already brought the trainers... let him wear them indoors a little and he walks fine now. Practice practice practice :)

No shoes until they can walk and even then only if absolutely needed. Shoes are awful for everyone let alone a baby.
