Has anyone managed to get a chicken pox vaccine lately?

I've been wanting to get my little boy vaccinated against chicken pox for a while now but can't find any available appointments anywhere. Is this the same across the rest of the UK? Or is it just a West Sussex issue?

There’s been a nationwide shortage of the vaccine but some pharmacies now have stock. You can do a search on the boots and Superdrug websites to find any pharmacies closest to you that offer it (just a heads up to actually phone the pharmacy to double check they actually do it as I booked in online with boots and the pharmacy I booked with doesn’t actually do the vaccine). Otherwise it’s a case of phoning around local pharmacies to you.

Ok thanks for the tip :) Shame there's a shortage at the moment!

Just to give you another option, we used Kamsons Pharmacy last autumn, when Boots and Superdrug were out of stock. Might be worth a try if you have one near you.

I was able to get one, 2nd dose last month. Boots and superdrug booking system completely empty of appointments for months, but my local pharmacy had it in stock. I just had to pay for both doses upfront to ensure a 2nd dose would be secured for me in the correct timeframe in case the shortage worsened.

My little boy had his first chickenpox vaccine at Superdrug last week. No issues with booking either his first or second dose appointments online.

Mine had his first at Boots but I’m having trouble booking the second one. We’re in Surrey but having to travel into London to get it. Pharmacist last time said it wasn’t s stock issue but a lack of qualified pharmacists to give it. We’ve had two appointments cancelled on us at short notice.

Try Sussex travel clinic

Thanks everyone :) Husband is going to ask at the Boots near where he works today and see if they do it. There was an appointment available at the end of April online so I booked it but I want to be 100% sure it's actually going to happen.

If not I'll try the other pharmacies suggested :)

We are in Derbyshire and no shortages here, my son had his second vaccine on Monday and there was lots of appointments available online. We used Boots as its in our local shopping centre.

There was a few independent pharmacies and clinics that also had the vaccine and next day appointments were available. If you do get desperate for an appointment there seems plenty in Derby and Nottingham if you fancy a long day out.

We had it (x3 people) in Guildford Superdrug about a month ago, got the second one soon so I hope they have it!

I don’t think Guildford is too far from West Sussex if you couldn’t find it closer (although my geography is shocking so I could be wrong!)

Although I did have to give home address at the appointment.

Good luck finding an appointment x
