Nursery induction

DS starts nursery after Easter (next week) and I’ve not heard from nursery about his induction. When I enrolled and paid deposit they said they’d be in touch about a week or so before he starts.

im going to ring them this afternoon if I’ve not heard from them after lunch but was just wondering if this is normal? Do parents have to chase this stuff up? I would have assumed they’d have something in their system about new starters and reminders to book induction/parental paperwork.

just trying to work out if I’m expecting too much from this nursery and it’s a normal situation or if this does not bode well for future stuff (honestly have the feeling they’re going to say they have no record of him starting/my deposit)

Honestly really depends on nursery set up. First one DD was at needed chasing for anything admin!

The one she is at now is run with a head office so they are much more on top of their game.

I would give them a call - whether you think you can live with this sort of lack of organisation from them is up to you.

Depends really… My 2 have been to a few nurseries between them and it varies so much. DS went to one and I had to reach out to reconfirm start date, they emailed paperwork to bring on day 1, then it was all very informal i.e. turn up, he seems alright, why don’t you go home and we’ll call if he’s upset (they didn’t) so no real induction to speak of. Then moved on to the school nursery and for that we were given the new starters induction afternoon itinerary in March when he wasn’t even starting until September. I wouldn’t say it’s a reflection on what they’re like with the kids at all.

Thanks that is reassuring. I rang them and she had to check systems and ring me back (queue panic attack as I was convinced he’d been wiped from their list). She apologised no one had been in touch earlier so hopefully it was a one off and once he’s fully started all communication will be a lot better (I think they use an app or something from what I recall from our look around last year)
