Daughter just turned 12 months few days ago, she has had cows milk mixed with cereal etc and no problems taking it, however have been trying to get her to drink cows milk from a sippy cup so she can stop taking formula, but she won't take it, any advice, do you stop formula straight away at 12 months and is it normal for them to not like drinking cows milk from sippy cup, drinks water ok from it

How much formal is she drinking?
I was always told if they didn't like the cows milk on its own then to make half formal and half cows milk together and over the next few weeks drop the an oz of formal and add more cows milk till it's all cows milk it worked for me x

Thank you, I will try mixing formula and cows milk, did you still give it in ordinary bottle with teat for a while until they ready to switch completely?

We bought the Aptamil toddler milk for ages because they preferred that to cows milk.

I really wouldn’t worry if she has a generally good diet. You can get plenty of cow’s milk in through cereal, yogurt, cheese, ice cream, rice pudding etc etc
Dont go down the toddler milk route it’s a con for most children. Unless you have been advised by a dietitian.

Neither of my DDs drank milk after the age of 12 months. They just refused. They had it in cereal and they ate yogurt but that was it. They are both adults now and don't seem to have suffered any ill effects. As a family none of us really like milk. I don't think it's unusual. As long as they are eating other dairy products they will be fine.

My daughter only started to take milk from sippy cup (14 months).
Is there a reason for trying to change the milk and the cup in the same time? I know they advice that but I never met anyone who's baby would just swap from formula baby bottle to a milk sippy cup straight away.
Keep the usual bottle until she gets used to the milk. My baby took the milk no problem (for a week I did half formula half milk) she wasn't bothered.

My son is 15 months old now and still doesn't drink cows milk, he never has. Most of his baby friends are the same. It seems to be really unusual to just switch onto cows milk!

We just offer water in a sippy cup and lots of other dairy to make sure he gets enough calcium, that's what the NCT/doctor/HV have advised.
