I have 3 adult children and one 15 year old. I have always been a sahm because I hated my Mum working from when I was 5years.I own a house that is 3 hours away .We had to evict the tenants a year ago because things could have got dangerous at the house .The plan was to get trades people to do all the work .they have generally been unreliable so my husband and i have been leaving the 15yr old with the 29 and 25 year old at home for 7-10 days at a time and then returning for a week or two .My dd misses us to a point but everything is running well and school work is not suffering as far as I know. Many thanks. Please make me feel better about this.I hate leaving her!

Well it’s not ideal, depends very much on what your 15yo is like and their relationship with elder siblings. How often are siblings there?

The 15 year old is happy and sensible. She says as long as we are not away too long, it is okay .Both of them adore the 15 year old. The 25 year old does a lot with her ,dog walks, drives ,shopping etc. She wants custody of her if any thing happens to my husband and I ,so there is a good bond there. One of them is always at the house when she is. We did this for financial security and keep questioning whether we should have just sold it. Please reassure me with some positives. Thankyou Pandy for answering.
