Looking for some car seat advise as I’m really struggling now.
18 month old has always hated the car from being tiny, never slept in the car seat unless at night. It is now getting worse and I need a solution. We would drive at night if we needed to travel but now with the clock change that just won’t work.
We’ve changed car seats, had them front facing, toys, songs, singing, talking, snacks, blinds, totally ignoring the upset and even the iPad. We might get a few moments of calm and then it begins to build and they end up hysterical. It’s fine to ignore the upset on short journeys although I don’t want them being consistently like this, but long journeys are awful for all involved. We have no local family so driving is pretty essential day to day and visiting them.
Is there anything I’m missing that I could try please? Or is there anyone I could speak to like The sleep fairy or similar but for other things like the car? There must be a reason and/ or a strategy to make it easier on them.
