Baby doesn’t engage with water..?

Ftm mum here to a 5 month old son.
he doesn’t hate his bath or swimming, just a very neutral expression when doing both and doesn’t engage or splash the water at all. Is very still 🙈
he’s smiley / giggly outwith the bath / pool but I did kinda think he’d be splashing about by now! Anyone else experience something similar?

What happens if you try to make it fun? Get a new bath toy or a plastic mug and show him pouring and giggling at it etc? He will get the idea.

My daughter was exactly the same. Everyone would talk about fun swimming and bath times and she'd just be there 😶
She never cried or seemed unhappy, likewise she never splashed or giggled. She's 20 months now ands loves it. Don't worry, your baby is probably similar and just too young to see the fun yet

DD has just started enjoying water at 13 months. She was always fine with it, just not confident enough to splash or play. Now we’ve had to find somewhere else for the dogs’ water.

@Isthereanygoldenwonder yes! This is exactly him 😂 people ask oh does he love his baths and I’m like emm he tolerates them 😂 no tears and let’s me wash him with no complaint but no enjoyment either! Glad to know it changed for your little one!

Mine didn't splash until a bit older I don't think. Could you try playing music/singing? Or do you ever get in the bath with him? He might do more if you sit him up against your tummy and he feels more supported.
To be honest though so long as he's comfortable in the water that's all you need really. Fun will come!

My eldest was liked that, I still say he tolerates swimming. My youngest is 9 months and has always loved the water, I think it’s just part of their personality.

Yeah mine didn't care when he was that tiny. He's now 20 mo and loves splashing.

Give it time. He's only little
