And what will you be feeding them for dinner while we're on it?!

I need new ideas for my 2.5 year old rather than relying on my usual 'go to' options.

Mine had an omelette for lunch. We’re at a family party tonight so they’ll have buffet food.

They usually have whatever we’re having for dinner.

Jellybella · 25/03/2023 14:34

Mine are currently ill so not eating normally but usually for lunch I do what I call a 'picky plate'. It will usually have bits and pieces from whatever I have available. I have some plates with 5 sections and put something different in each one. Typical things include peppers, cheese/babybel, tomatoes, cucumber, veggie straws, sandwiches, fruit of some kind, yoghurt, toast, spaghetti hoops/beans. Sometimes as a treat might put some smarties or other chocolate in.
They love it, think part of the fun is seeing what things they are going to get.
Not sure they'll be having dinner tonight but if they were would either do jacket potato with cheese and beans or pasta with tomato sauce.

Following thread with interest as always looking for new ideas!

We had a fry up so the 3yo had sausage, beans, toast and hash brown. Will be having spag Bol together for tea

Lunch was going to be a picky plate but we cycled to the playground and then went to a pub for lunch. One had ham, egg and chips and one had sausage and mash and peas.

Tea will be homemade pizza, ham and pineapple with corn on the cob and peppers.

Darmy1 · 25/03/2023 14:54

Scrambled eggs, sausage and toast x

surreyisik · 25/03/2023 14:55

Leftover beef stew from last night. Homemade banana cinnamon yoghurt for pudding

CoconutJamSpongeAndPinkCustard · 25/03/2023 14:59

He had marmite toast, boiled egg, cheese, tomato, cucumber and blueberries.

Tea will be chicken and cous cous salad with pitta bread, hummus and raita.
Probably yogurt for pudding.

Yesterday he had homemade tomato soup and cottage pie.

I like these threads. I often get stuck for ideas.

Dd 2.5 bag of walkers crisps and an Ella’s kitchen fruit pouch

Dinner will be her ‘usual’ McDonald’s nuggets , plain pasta and peas

She is severely autistic 😭

We don’t do proper lunches at the weekend because we are in and out of the house a lot. During the week it’s hot lunches and dessert at nursery.

Here’s what my preschooler has eaten today:

7.30am - a big bowl of porridge with chopped banana and raisins
9am - post-swimming snack (small flapjack)
10.30am - a slice of toast
12pm - a small snack outside the house (not sure what it was, DH took him)
2pm - a snack bowl with cashews, Babybel, cucumber slices and one raw carrot

Dinner will be given at 5pm - salmon, roasted potatoes, broccoli, carrots.

He’ll probably eat some fruit and Haribo after.

BanditsGravyStain · 25/03/2023 15:22

I gave her a sandwich, a baby bel, a banana and some kiddylicious crisps. She ate the crisps and cheese a couple of crisps and then I gave her a chocolate chip brioche just to get some food in her before a nap 🙄. We’re having Mince and Dumplings for tea so I can at least hide some veg in that. She’s terrible for eating atm.

SilhouettesOnTheShade · 25/03/2023 15:30

Tomato soup (a small amount for dipping), few slices of baguette with cheese. Then apricot yoghurt and sliced apple.

Dinner is red pesto spaghetti with sweetcorn and ham.

Unhappyleprechaun · 25/03/2023 15:37

3 year old.

This bit wont be useful to you but we were out this morning and he got wedges from a deli around 11am. He doesn't usually eat chips or anything like that so I was shocked that he actually ate them.

Back home now and hes just had cucumber, tomato, homemade soda bread and a bit of a chicken sausage.

Still deciding what to make for dinner.

To be honest he would eat fruit and salad all day every day if he could so his lunches and dinners are a mix of salads or pasta or rice dishes.

ForeverTired89 · 25/03/2023 15:52

Almost 3YO had a turkey ham and cheese sandwich, cucumber, an orange, raspberries and a yogurt for lunch.

Dinner I’ve not decided yet but either chicken casserole or spag bol.

takealettermsjones · 25/03/2023 16:56

Mine's 5 so not a toddler but can I just recommend this account on tiktok called Moon and Rue?? The mother posts the loveliest meals for her daughter, they're fabulous and very helpful imo. 😁

Just for fun, my 5 year old had a very simple lunch of garlic bread pizza, a bunch of different fruit and a couple chicken nuggets. Most of her lunches tend to be a bit of a random assortment as I save my energy for the real cooking for dinner!!!! She's got a very small appetite so hardly eats anything and very picky too!! 😥

blebbleb · 25/03/2023 17:05

Tuna pesto pasta

Zola1 · 25/03/2023 17:10

She is a pain in the neck, she ate about 7 peas, 3 chicken nuggets, and a yoghurt. For tea she will prob have chicken korma with the rest of us.

tdeall · 25/03/2023 17:12

Pasta with homemade veggie sauce

Cuwins · 25/03/2023 17:21

Breakfast- porridge and banana
Snack- baby fruit bar thing
Lunch- umm Burger King kids meal- not the norm!
Dinner- bean chilli and bread.

Clareicles · 25/03/2023 17:31

My 2.5yr old had jam and toast for breakfast, with some fruit. We made biscuits today, so he had one of those for his snack. Lunch was bacon and red pepper pasta, with peas and carrots on the side (his choice of veg!).
Tea will be a cheese sandwich or similar, I suspect.

There is fruit and veg in there, thats good going. I wish I could get ds (8, also severely autstic) to eat veg. The only fruit he will eat is apple crumble or those dried fruit snacks.

Got2besoon · 25/03/2023 17:41

Lunch was peanut butter sandwich, veggie straws, dark chocolate rice cake and banana

Dinner will be Granny's lamb curry with potato and rice.

He's egg/dairy/fish/sesame free so meals aren't always straightforward!

VivaVivaa · 25/03/2023 17:51

Lunch was about 2/3 of one of the vegetable pizzas from Lidl’s bakery with some red pepper, tomatoes, quavers and mayonnaise.

Tea is a fish orzo dish. DS loves orzo and it’s supremely easy to make which is in a win. Although I don’t know how much he’ll eat as we bribed him around the supermarket with a brioche only about an hour ago.

hggfff · 25/03/2023 17:58

Lunch sainsbury tinned ravioli, dinner share our steak pie mash and peas.

Isledelaray · 25/03/2023 18:13

2 year old had a wholemeal cheese sandwich, cucumber, tortilla chips and an apple. Mainly ate the apple and tortilla chips - usually he'd eat the sandwich too but he had had a snack with us not long before lunch as we popped into a cafe.

For tea, he had cauliflower cheese with mixed veg and a chicken thigh which I pan fried. And a yoghurt and some raspberries.

Other things he's had this week include homemade wedges with fish fingers and peas, cheesey sweet potato mash with chicken and veg, spinach and cheese crepe and pizza.

Lunch is usually cheese on toast or a cheese sandwich with apple and some form of crisps plus blueberries most days. Or we'll buy a baguette and share chunks of it with butter and cheese!
