It says where a baby can’t yet roll onto stomach and then back again, that they shouldn’t sleep on their side or stomach and should be repositioned. Fine. But how do you monitor this if you’re asleep?! Are you supposed to stay up/wake up regularly to check?

baby is 16 weeks and can roll onto stomach and side but can’t roll back again.

You put baby on their back once they can roll there is nothing you can do

You can't stop them. My baby was always on her side or front as she must have just preferred it. Still her preference at 17mo!

If I was awake I would reposition, but I mentioned the same question you have to my HV and they said you can't stay awake all night doing that.

So, what you do is have the safest sleeping conditions possible.

Empty cot, not bumpers, nothing that could get tangled etc like blankets etc (I'm sure you know all this but just look at Lullaby Trust if not!).

Once you have that, you can trust that you've done everything possible to keep your babe safe, and they will do the rest.

Don't get taken in by 'sleep positioners' etc to keep them on their backs - they can be very dangerous.

Get that sleep, mama! 💘
