Cord care

I wasn't sure what thread to put this in so hopefully I'll get a response.

My daughter's cord fell off when she was just around a week old and the midwife was a little concerned that it might be infected. There's been no signs of infection (temperature, redness, pus etc) but I'm concerned about the amount it's bleeding as can't remember from son if this is normal. I can't find my midwife notes either to be able to ask as we've just moved house so don't have anyone to call.

How long ago did it fall off? My daughter's bled for a couple of days and continued to look a bit crusty for maybe a week or two (I didn't want to run the scabs off). I'd say your daughter looks okay though of it's still wet and oozing a few days after falling off I'd contact a GP.

Kudos for moving house so soon after giving birth - that must have been stressful!

@CoalCraft it fell off about 5 days ago. I did finally manage to ring the midwife and check but she said it sounds okay. We moved two days before I was induced it's definitely been stressful to say the least!

I had concerns about my DDs. She said if it's infected you'll KNOW - it'll smell!! And be hot, oozy etc.
