We’re just coming out of a 5 days of vomiting that swept through the family starting with dd who is in primary school, y5. I have deep fear of vomit but I do get on with it because obviously you have to. This will be the fourth occasion since September that dd has had one and she had three between January and July last year. Most of these have coincided with emails from the school saying they have a norovirus outbreak and dr has done stool samples for dd and confirmed norovirus on a couple of occasions. They’ve done a referral to the hospital which we’re waiting for but I think mainly just to appease me. I can’t help feel quite anxious about the amount that she’s coming home with? Everytime we get one of these emails from school my heart sinks because I just know dd will get it. I do instill good hand hygiene in her and she carries alcohol gel but doesn’t seem to make any difference

We had loads pre Covid, none during and have only had 1 since. So Covid did improve things somewhat as the kids learned to wash hands adequately during Covid.

Problem is primary kids are so close to each other that if one has iffy hand hygiene others will probably pick stuff up from shared toys!

Does your DD have any habits like sucking thumb, biting nails or hands in mouth while thinking? Because these are likely risk points away from hand wash time!

No she doesn’t do any of those things, there are a couple of kids in the class that she tells me never wash their hands. I think she has a very sensitive stomach but also I do wonder what’s going on with the school as we get emails literally every few weeks about norovirus.
