Reflux and rash

So my health visitor started my LO on carobel 4 days ago. All seemed fine once we got the right teat size etc. I noticed wee spots appearing all over her a day or so later and then yesterday afternoon this rash just started spreading all over her… see image! A trip to children’s hospital- they suggested we stop the carobel (apparently reactions to this are rare though?!) and try gaviscon instead for her reflux. all her observations were good and we were sent home!
rash is disappearing but still spotty in some areas….! Nothing has changed other then adding carobel- she is 6 weeks old and had the same formula since week 1, same washing powder, creams etc. Anyone else had similar rash or issues with carobel?! Thank you :)

Hi there, my 3 month old baby has come out in almost the exact same rash. He has also recently been put on carobel for reflux and this is the only thing we can possibly link the rash to. Did you manage to get to the bottom of your little one’s rash I.e did you stop carobel etc?

@Lukef2000 hey
so yeah we stopped the carobel and her skin went back to normal within 48 hours. We did gaviscon for a few months (can cause constipation) then we weaned her early (5 months) and her reflux disappeared and she was a completely different baby, this was personal choice as I know some people will not do before 6 months and I get that. When I say weaned she had a table spoon amount of baby rice with her milk once a day (very watered consistency) then at 6 months we did proper weaning. We have had no issues since and she’s very healthy. I hope your wee one is ok as reflux is horrible (I still suffer monthly with it) have you also tried baby massage? X

Thanks so much for getting back in touch so quickly and glad to hear your little one is happy and healthy! We will speak to our health visitor on Tuesday and see what her next steps are but definitely thinking of stopping the carobel although it does seem to be helping with his reflux! Thanks for the suggestion of baby massage too I will definitely have a look into this! 😊
