Paused return to work after having a baby

I am returning to work soon following maternity leave and my company offers a no questions asked phased return to work for 4 weeks.

The plan was to return working 3 days and then increase to 4 but recently I have been feeling like working shorter days or even half days might be beneficial to ease myself back
in. Also I have a long commute so getting home to baby earlier would be nice.

However I’m worried that as I work in a team
and I might be starting in a new department this could be disruptive for them or come across as being difficult etc.. maybe just picking less days
or shorter days would be better.

I was hoping to get some other people’s experiences on what they did, worked well or wished they had done?

Thank you in advance for sharing your experience 😊

My work is quite clear cut in that they only offer full time (5 days) or part time (2.5 days) although I think some people do spread them out differently.I work 2.5 9-5 days which is great as Thurs & Fri I get to be with 1yo all day.I would work 3 if they and allowed it, but they don't.Weds mornings are always squashed and sometimes the work spills over into the afternoon anyway.
