Help! Does this teething look normal to you?

First time mother here and we have no idea. He’s 14 months and teething g his top two first molars (we know because they’ve already pierced the gum). Today he’s been super fussy and threw up in the car (very unlike him), and I noticed these white spots on his lower gums in the picture (zoom in). For those that have already got their molars, do these seem normal to you? The placement seems so odd. But what do I know.

They seem quite forward from the bottom teeth but it's hard to tell from photo and the way he's holding jaw.

Does he attend dentist yet?

Thanks for replying. It may well be his incisor, but looks quite flat on top? No, not going to a dentist as they are so hard to find where we live. But I may try to insist that ours takes a look at him.

Do you still have a hv?

Scotland here so we have different system but a sure start nurse who checks plus dentist.

He has four bottom incisors so I would suspect canine but it's whether is molar is coming as well?

I can't zoom the picture on desktop, but their teeth do look weird when they first come in. Almost like they are too big for their mouth.

It's also normal to get a premolar before the canine. Canines come in a weird order.

spidereggs · 11/03/2023 22:03

@BertieBotts yeah I agree.

I'm the mum of three whose baby has more teeth than her two year old, and two year with more than her big sister. I began to wonder if the eldest would ever get teeth.

My ds12, when his bottom front teeth came in, they were overlapping, growing one behind the other.

Now they are totally straight! Still amazes me how that can happen.

Is that Chinese ?! 😯

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 11/03/2023 22:20

My baby is teething right now and his gum looks like this! I was worried it was an abscess but I think it's just normal actually after seeing this!

HeavenIsAHalfpipe · 11/03/2023 22:20

Probably a good idea to get him to a dentist @Soniarc The teeth do look a bit odd/offline.

Are you passing comment on what the OP’s baby is eating?

fitnessmummy · 11/03/2023 22:38

I can't see clearly but do you mean the white bit where the gum is? It looks swollen. I would see a doctor

JennyDarlingRIP · 11/03/2023 22:39

@sparkle1011 just looks like a home made stir fry to me, what's wrong with that?

YukoandHiro · 11/03/2023 22:42

@sparkle1011 looks like a noodle stir fry - completely normal and v healthy thing to cook for a toddler

Also emphatically not what the OP was asking about

HairyFeline · 11/03/2023 22:47

It is worth seeing if your dentist would have a look if you can’t find an nhs dentist taking them on. I’ve had to move my girl within the same practice from their nhs to private register “because Covid” 🤨. A check up through a private dentist there costs £20, so I figured that’s worth it twice a year for the reassurance.
I think it’s great he’s clearly enjoying that food and all the textures and flavours that go with it…home made Chinese is delicious and the pic reminded me how grateful I am that my DD is past the slimy hand phase of scoffing 🤣🤢!!! Ooof I found that harder than the newborn nappies!

Not Chinese, it’s a homemade stir fry with low sodium soya sauce :).
