DD, 7, is quiet, thoughtful, kind and popular as a result. She involves everyone and hates confrontation. She rarely has fall-outs. She’s recently been upset about going to school and it turns out it’s because of a girl in her friendship group who is, quite frankly, mean to them all. DD says she wants the confidence to end this friendship. I’ve been helping her through this and we’ve talked about strategies etc. It’s now coming close to DD’s birthday and her invite list includes all then friendship group except this girl. I’m torn between saying she can invite or not invite anyone she wants, and saying she can’t leave this one child out because it makes DD the bad guy. I’m on good terms with the other girl’s family and am considering asking the mum to go out for coffee to talk it through. WWYD? Any advice welcome.
