Ds had Hand, Foot and Mouth disease. Any tips for days at home since we are banned from playgroups for five days?

ds - 17mo has been diagnosed with Hand, Foot and Mouth today - poor little mite. Just wondering what to do while we are 'quarantined'. We can go to parks etc. but I am already missing the freedom a couple of hours at Mother and Toddler offers! Ativity ideas welcome please!

Can your DS sit up? A tray full of stuff like dry pasta or rice keeps them amused for a while.

SoupDragon · 11/02/2008 18:02

Ah, copied and pasted from another thread - your profile says your DS is 7 months old

SoupDragon · 11/02/2008 18:03

BabyDragon still liked the tray of dry stuff at that age though.

Have you tried salt-dough yet?

love the idea of the dry stuff. Hard to be stuck indoors and I realy have nowhere I want to go! Thanks for ideas. Hopefully he will be a little less grumpy tomorrow. and lol at question as to whether he can sit up !

I and other MNers were having a "clear unanswered threads" marathon. The first one I found didn't mention his age so I checked your profile

Homemade playdough is good fun like Flier says.

why are you quarantined? it is infectious for weeks after all the spots have gone you know! obv you wouldn't be taking him out while he feels ill but 5 days sounds a bit long

sorry, computer just crashed, meant to add poor lamb, mine have had it and it was horrible, esp the sitting down bit! try keeping his nappy off as much as pos, they get the spots worst on the hottest bits of their bodies, hence hideous bums

cruisemum1 · 11/02/2008 22:17

cheers morocco - yes his bum looks horrendous. . Like the worst case of nappy rash you can imagine. I'm not really 'quaranited' as such, but the doc said not to take him to M and T groups for 5 days . Maybe I will venture out tomorrow if he feels OK.
