TTC whilst breastfeeding

First of all sorry if this is in the wrong place.

Hey everyone so my DD is 15 months and still breastfeeds alot! Sleep has always been a issue so she co sleeps and feeds in the night. She goes 6 hours stretches without milk during the day when I work.
My worry is she took 3 years to conceive so don't know how long the next one will take. I haven't had any periods yet since giving birth. I don't know why I'm feeling like this but everytime I hear someone say they are pregnant I get jealous? I feel so selfish for feeling this way as I have a beautiful little girl!

Is this all normal to feel this way? 😕
Can I do anything to kick start ovulation?

I was the same as you. Desperate for an other baby but couldn’t get daughter off the boob. I couldn’t get my periods back no matter how little I fed. Finally, after many failed attempts at stopping breastfeeding at night I managed to stop.

As soon as I stopped my periods came back the next month.

I cut out all day feeding first by distracting her or using food she likes as a distraction. Night was a lot harder as I co-slept. I went away for one night so my husband had to deal with it and then the next night I gave lots of cuddles while she cried but after that it was done and wow what a difference it made. Never thought it but everything became easier when she stopped feeding. Periods came back and then fell pregnant. It was the only way.

@NewBabyGirl2020 thanks for replying =) we also co sleep so I think it's going to be very hard to night wean! But I think I will give it ago if it means I can start ovulating again!
Do you mind me asking how long you co slept for?

There’s a FB group for this- I think it’s called TTC whilst Breastfeeding Support Group. There’s loads of useful info on there. I was in the same boat as you and ended up weaning my 18 month old because I still hadn’t had my period and wanted to conceive. Period still didn’t return after weaning and we ‘caught the first egg’ and conceived when my DD was 20 months. You can conceive whilst breastfeeding and before your period returns but chances are slimmer. I understand how agonising it is seeing other people announcing their pregnancies. Good luck x

Until about 20 months. She slept so much better with us so that’s why. I bought her a floor bed and did up her bedroom and she decided she wanted to sleep in her own bed as she loved it. She does however sneak into our bed about 3am most nights but that’s because we allow it
