Does anyone know about the period of purple crying? And is it helpful calling it this instead of colic?

To my limited knowledge, ‘purple’ is an acronym to describe what is more commonly known as colic, because colic can feel meaningless whereas the PURPLE crying information gives more logic to the situation and therefore more of a feeling of control/understanding to the parent.

My DD (now 10 months) luckily escaped colic (but we did have a few bad nights / occasional weeks of crying). However my partner’s first child had colic and cried every evening for MONTHS ON END. I’m always in awe of parents who have colicky babies because it must be so hard - but equally nothing much phases them after such a brutal welcome to babyhood!

I also feel for the babies - being new in the world must be exhausting and I’d want to cry all bloody evening too!

Are you okay, OP? Do you have a newborn?
