Naughty at nursery, well behaved at home

I honestly can’t find anything on this as most children are the other way around. My son will be 3 in June and lately started being naughty/cheeky/challenging at nursery but at home he’s pretty good. Testing boundaries and we do have some battles but on the whole we’re getting along well and have a strong bond. We haven’t really had issues with him when we go out or visit friends either. He’s language and communication are very good, above average.

Has anyone had this? Why would this happen? (and not the other way around)

I will ask nursery for more details if this continues, I know no one here can give me answers but at the moment I’m just wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation.

What have nursery said? Without more details it's hard to tell really.
Could he be copying behaviour from another child or children? Is he playing up for attention at nursery because otherwise he isn't getting any?

Are the expectations different at school and at home? I have had children in my class who are obviously used to different rules (which is fine) but they usually work out what behaviour belongs where. Examples: jumping on the furniture or swearing.

Absolutely it will be different expectations.
