Do children cope well with change?

Has anyone got any experience of moving areas with young children DD is 2 and SC 8. SC mainly lives with Mum and has recently moved house and it made him anxious and he has stated he never wants to move again. DD is settled in childcare bit two young to understand. Due to circumstances out of our control we may have to move house and area meaning change in childcare for DD and a different home for both of them. New area will be around half an hour from old location but as is closer to motorway will only be an extra 10 mins from DSCs mums. If you have moved eoth children how did they cope and how can you make the move easier.

I have 2 dc both under 9.
Oldest has moved 6 times and in their third school.
Youngest has moved 4 times and in first (and only) school.

Reason for moves has been inadequate accommodation, emergency & temporary accommodation and upsizing. School changes were due to different area changes & travel too demanding etc.

Youngest remembers our last house and talks about things that happened there.

Oldest remembers most houses apart from the one they were born into and the emergency & temp accommodation due to them being short stays. They remember their previous schools and some of their friends. They remember good memories, there wasn't really any bad memories as such.

It's upsetting for me to see all the moves at such young ages.

As children get older they will remember more moves and it'll be more relevant as they're losing friendship groups unfortunately

Talking about the move and visiting area before moving is ideal, it helped mine with most recent move. You can buy books about moving houses too

I'm hoping we will only ever move twice, this time and then once more when we can buy a forever home. Although I know things don't go to plan.

I don't like the stress of moving, but I'm actually fine with changing locations. I've lived in 5 houses in 10 years, but now I've got the children it just feels so much harder.
