5 week old baby, just changed his clothes and noticed his chest is like this. Not noticed before.
Before I battle with trying to get a GP appointment, has anybody come across this before with their little ones?

Has he got a fever? Have you tried the glass test? (Where you gently press a glass against the rash to check it disappears)

show it to a pharmacist

Has he been poorly recently? Both mine had similar to this when they were little after a virus and our GP told us it was an after effect of the virus.

No conditioner?
Are you doing an extra rinse?
My ds was terribly allergic to persil, in the days before bio powder was popular and I didnt use bio. He looked as if he had been scalded.
Or could it be a lotion or something?

FebMama · 07/03/2023 10:07

Thanks all. He's not been poorly no. He is suffering with reflux at the moment though. Could this be related in any way?

He also had terrible baby acne in the first few weeks after birth. Looked very similar to this and it was all over his face.

You should always get a rash on a small child checked out. If you can’t get a GP appointment, ask your local pharmacist, a walk-in centre, your health visitor or at a stretch A&E.

Could be a post-viral rash.
Could be an illness.
Could be eczema.
Could be an allergy.

Take him to the GP.
My son has reflux and eczema, I think some people are just prone to be a bit sensitive to their environment.

With a 5 week old baby you should be able to get an appointment today.

FebMama · 07/03/2023 10:59

Thanks all. GP have no appointments this morning but they've asked me to submit a photo and I will get a phone call this afternoon.
