Infacol / gripe water

My baby is 3 weeks old and has had what I think is trapped wind for a few days now. She has pooed a few times so I'm not worried about constipation, but there have been a number of times over the few days where she is clearly uncomfy and has had quite a hard tummy at times. We have rubbed her tummy, wiggled her hips and bicycled her legs, which helps get some gas out, but clearly not all of it. My questions are:
1 - would you have used Infacol / gripe water for this? Which one would you use? (gripe water says don’t use before the baby is a month old so would prob go with Infacol this week if that's what it's for)
2 - when do you give it to the baby? When you notice they're struggling with the trapped wind or do you pre-empt the issue and give it with every feed for a few days?

Thanks for your help!!

We had the same problem. Started to use infacol before every feeding. It worked for us, she was so much better. You have to wait a few days to see the results (maybe even a week) but definitely helped with the wind. I used until she was 3 months old before every feeding. I dont think it works if you just give it occasionally. I kept bottles all over the house so it was always in hand.
Never tried gripe water.

my health visitor said to use Infacol from birth if I wanted. I didn’t notice a difference however I forget a few feeds and only did a few days but people say it can take up to a week to work. My baby is only 4 weeks so tonight I tried gripe water for the first time. May have been coincidence but i used it 30 mins after a feed after having spent the 30
mins winding thinking non left. Almost immediately a massive burp came out after using the gripe water! My plan is to stick to Infacol before a feed and gripe water after!

I used to use gripe water just as and when I thought he needed it (ie when fussing and seemed to have trapped wind). It did work and certainly stopped him crying as I think just giving him something different to drink was a distraction. Infacol did nothing and because it is quite acidic it made his reflux so much worse we had to stop using it x

@overthinking23 Im convinced Infacol made my boys reflux worse too. In the two occasions I have used it now he was very fussy and crying and made no difference to his wind.

i bought Dentinox but it smells so bad I haven’t given it and don’t plan too.

colief works wonders so far although a pain to prepare. It seems to help digestion so not as much wind.

@jellybeanjc my boy also gets really bad trapped wind. I didn’t realise how much it makes them cry! Today though I spent an hour doing constipation/colic massages in his tummy following videos on YouTube. Without 1 hour he did a huge poo! I didn’t believe those massages work but they do!

I was told Infacol will make reflux worse due to the flavourings being slightly acidic.
