Travelling with a 5 month old - any tips and do we travel business vs economy

Hey,

We are thinking of travelling with a 5 month old in June to Lanzarote later this year. We would be staying in self catering accommodation as we have family that have a villa that we can use cheaply.

He is fully formula fed on some special milk due to allergies.

We are lucky enough to be able to afford business flights as they are fairly cheap in June this year. Has anyone had any experience with flying business with a young baby? I am worried that other travellers will be annoyed for taking a young baby on a business flight.

We are debating whether to go self catering in Lanzarote (but are concerned about the flight length) or hotel accommodation somewhere a bit closer to home - but are aware that sterilising may be more tricky.

Does anyone have any recommendations/thoughts or advice for travelling with a young baby!

Thanks.

Louise

If you’re going to Lanzarote you may as well fly business as it’s pretty much the same cabin as the rest of the plane as opposed to a separate quiet cabin as in long haul flights.

we travelled 2.5 hours with a 5 month old and it was fine. He didn’t cry. He didn’t really cry at that age. Other friends took their babes on 10 hour long haul flights. It wasn’t the best experience in the world but doable!

also, don’t forget travel insurance. My baby got sick abroad and needed treatment. I’ve learnt my lesson that I wouldn’t take a 6 month old to a hotel with lots of kids in it!!

You’ll have a bit more space in business. It’s only a curtain away from the rest of the plane. If you can afford it go Business. I took an 11 month old - did get some grumpy looks - from people not in business
