Stomach bug- use nappies or not?

DD who is 4 next week and has been potty trained in the day for a good few months has developed a stomach bug that seemed to have started this morning. I have rang 111 and they have said to monitor her as there seems to be a lot going around at the moment. However she has soiled herself twice today already. As you can imagine she has been very upset and embarrassed about this as one of these times was in the car. Would it be unreasonable to put one of her night nappies on to keep it contained?

I think I would, she will be a lot more dignified having her nappy changed than messing herself

What made you decide to call 111? Genuinely curious as sick bugs are a normal thing surely

FuckeNell · 04/03/2023 16:08

Why'd you call 111? Has she got any underlying health conditions?

R0ckets · 04/03/2023 16:11

I'm surprised you called 111 to be honest for what is a pretty common occurrence especially at this age.

I probably wouldn't use nappies but if she's more comfortable having one on then there no real reason not to. However if she has a D&V bug she probably shouldn't be going out anywhere in the car. Keep her hydrated get her to eat little and often and let her rest at home.

if it’s just a stomach bug, you don’t need 111. Happens all the time.
