What is this on baby's eyelid

It's appeared overnight ? At first I thought a scratch but it's smooth?

When I was a baby I had a strawberry mark that grew and I'm worried it's the same thing starting !

It looks like a mole. When I read eyelid it made me sit up and pay attention as DS had a strawberry type mark on his eyelid from birth but it faded after a few years. Now he has a mark exactly the same as the one in your photo but it's by his mouth. I think it's nothing to worry about and will fade as they grow.

SirVixofVixHall · 04/03/2023 15:15

It might be a small bruise.

davegrohll · 04/03/2023 15:24

It's much redder in real life than in the photo but I know it does look like a freckle on the pic!

I did think maybe she's pinched it or something somehow. Will have to see if it fades I guess.
I'm just paranoid because the strawberry mark I had when I was a baby was humongous and I don't want her to get one! Are they hereditary does anyone know ?

Strawberries (haemangioma) can partly be hereditary, also more common in Girls, multiples, older mums. How old is baby? They usually become noticeable around 3-6 weeks. Dd had one and ir doesn't look much like hers did.

Could it be a granuloma?

But it looks more like a mole to me.

HappyJellyBaby · 04/03/2023 15:34

Also there is treatment now, a haemangioma on the face is eligible for propanolol treatment on the NHS. It's an absolute miracle drug.

davegrohll · 04/03/2023 15:37

@HappyJellyBaby she is 5 months now, is it abit late for one to appear now ?

I don't think it's a granuloma. Nor a mole as it's bright red.

@davegrohll yes I think 5 months would be very old for it to appear. They usually peak at 6 months. I would keep an eye but not worry

davegrohll · 04/03/2023 15:47

@HappyJellyBaby okay. Thank you

What a gorgeous little eye 🥰🥰🥰

My son had that exact mark once on his eye when he bashed his face. It healed after a few days

Welshy26 · 04/03/2023 19:12

Is it a cherry angioma?
