Baby silent acid reflux

Hey could anyone please tell me if they’ve been through this and if they found a solution. My LG now 7 weeks old has all the symptoms of silent acid reflux; hiccups, coughing, burping and what seems like swallowing, the disgusted look on her face, hard to wind, problems sleeping and staying asleep, farts so much and has loose mucousy nappies even though she is on neocate (dairy free) as her sister had a dairy intolerance so the dr thought her issues might have stemmed from that too. She was projectile vomiting at first and this was thought to be mucous from birth. But now she rarely vomits and rarely spits up during the bottle and not after either but that may be because I wind her for so long and keep her upright. However it’s hours later she has clear acidic acid coming up and down and occasionally comes out. My dr has suggested omeprazole but I am so afraid to use it as I had read it means they can’t absorb the nutrients in formula aswell. She isn’t crying with it but it’s so disgustingly acidic I wondered would eventually make her cry and I shouldn’t prolong starting omeprazole. I also have to get her weighed so the dr has just said to dissolve it in water and give 2.8ml the lowest dose

please help

Yes sounds like silent reflux or maybe cmpa, but I see you're doing the right things with the dairy free formula. Don't hesitate, give her the omeprazole, I've never been advised otherwise about the nutrient absorption and you don't want her to develop a feeding aversion as she links milk to pain. You likely will have to play around with dose or when to give it etc anyway or at least I did. I know some people are hit and miss with Gaviscon infant but we really had success with it. Omprezaole was the best though

@Keroppi thanks so much for your reply. Yes I was concerned that if I didn’t give her it she could get worse. I have been giving the lowest dose as recommended until she gets weighed on Monday. I haven’t seen much improvement tbh in fact she seems to be shaking her head frantically side to side more now although it’s maybe just coincidence. We had tried carobel but it seemed to give her really bad wind. When did you find was the best time to give it? My dr didn’t even suggest the gaviscon but I was glad as most forums have said about constipation. Also has your little one been on it long? I’m hoping my little girl can come off it when weaning eek x

@Keroppi i find it so strange that her acid seems to come up just before her next bottle is due Atleast 3 hours after her previous bottle. I can’t seem to find other baby’s on here that have had that. You would Nearly think that’s what lets her know she’s due a bottle. Did your baby sleep better with omeprazole as my LG can’t really get over to sleep to nap in the day and when she does it’s little cat naps. She seems better sleeping at night but I think it’s purely from exhaustion x

I have twins who have reflux and cow milk protein allergy. We tried Gaviscon at first to little success. Then added in omeprazole which was slowly increased until they were on the max dose they could take, still didn't solve it. Never been told about the nutrients re omeprazole and the girls are under a dietician and paediatrician. We then swapped out Gaviscon to carobel thicken in their bottles. And then finally went to cows milk free formula and I cut out diary (they are combi fed). And this worked but they were 6 months by this stage. I would say just keep going back to GP. Is she under a dietician or paeds?

@Donimo thanks so much for your reply. My dr has increased her omeprazole to 5ml from 2.8’ so I’m hoping there is an improvement. I still don’t understand why her nappies are full of mucus after 34 days on neocate though. I don’t know if it made much of a different however I know it’s easier digested so easier for their wee systems so I’m reluctant to want to try anything else now. It’s so hard to work out. I’m glad you found a solution for your twins I can’t imagine having two with reflux and cmpa YOU are a heroine.. I hope things are easier now they are weaning

@Donimo my dr referred me to a dietician today. She said a paed would just say keep doing what your doing as she is slowly gaining weight
