Hi, my DS is nearly 11 months and still doesn't wave or clap or point. He will not copy anything I do. He is standing and physically meeting all those milestones. Is this normal? At the baby groups, all the babies younger than him seem to be clapping and waving and i feel really anxious about it now. I have tried to teach him, every day I am doing it but he does not seem at all interested. He says dada but that's it. Thanks

My first drove me mad with this. He just wouldn't. He did then have some speech therapy from 2 years to 2.5 years but is now completely caught up, and maybe exceeding, his peers at 5.

If you're worried speak to your HV. Have you had the 12 month review yet? It's sometime between 10 and 15 months I think. Something like that.

My DS couldn't give less of a shit about waving and clapping, or copying gestures. He never waved hello or goodbye until his final year of nursery so age 3! And to be fair he still couldn't care less about "Simon says" now he's 6, unless he gets to be "Simon" ..!!

DD on the other hand was doing all that early on and still absolutely loves "copy me" type games.

Just wired differently.

If he is responding to his name, babbling, walking, fine motor skills like block building etc, then don't worry.
