2 month old won't sleep

My 2.5 month old just won't sleep during the day and only a few hours if lucky during the night. Sometimes we get him to sleep for about 30 min to one hour in total throughout the entire day (!) but not every day. We tried everything. Sling, holding, playing, feeding. Nothing. Every time we put him on his back he cries. Anyone with similar experience?

I remember this phase and having a newborn that didn't seem to sleep more than 30 minutes a day when I knew she needed much more.
I used the Huckleberry app to help me find her sleep routine and it was great at telling me when her napping sweet spot was. I was so surprised by how accurate it was and it helped me to start noticing her sleep cues.
