Infected umbilical cord??

Day 8 with dd and her cord is looking a little red and gunky.
Can’t remember dc1 looking like this.
It doesn’t seem to smell, so hoping it is just a bit sore or rubbed?
Seeing the mw in 2 days so will ask them to look at it then but don’t want to leave it if it needs looking at sooner.
Dh thinks it just looks a little rubbed, so possibly I am being overly worried?
Any thoughts?
TIA

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Don’t mess around with new borns and infections. 2 days is too long to wait. No one on the I tenter can tell you it’s fine. Phone the midwife or delivery unit and say you’re concerned/where should you get them seen. They will always happily see and review 9 babies who are well to not miss the 1 in 10 who needs seeing.
Congratulations by the way!

Actually looks normal to me but if you think it's changed in a short period of time then get seen sooner just to be sure.
Call your midwife, might be able to email over a couple of photos.

Looks normal to me too, not oozy or anything but agree with PP to get checked as you can't take a chance. Can you text the pic to your midwife?

Thanks for the opinions. It is good to get a few more views on it. We will keep an eye on it overnight and will call the mw in the morning to double check too.
