Baby hit head hard on cot!

Hello,
not sure if I’m completely panicking and over reacting but just put my 9mo down for a nap. He usually sits up and rocks in the cot for a bit then falls asleep on his own. But after a couple of minutes I heard a huge thump and he’d fallen backwards and hit his head on the corner of the cot. He cried immediately but once I picked him up he calmed and I put him back down and he went to sleep within a few mins like normal.

He has had a fever the past couple of days so been sleepier than normal, but now I’m panicking in case he’s seriously hurt? He was desperately due a sleep hence I put him down and he had stopped crying as soon as I picked him up. I can’t feel an obvious bump on the head so I think it’s ok I put him straight back down but can any fellow mums help put my mind at rest?

TIA! X

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

We've all been there!!! Try not to panic too much. Look up the NHS head injury - things to look out for in young children. Common things are blackouts, seizures, vomiting, excess crying etc that are obvious signs something is wrong. 9/10 head injuries are totally nothing to worry about.

If you do need to talk to someone medical for your piece of mind, call 111 and they will have a doctor or nurse call you back. They will ask if baby has had any of the above signs, and if yes advise you to take to A&E

If no, then just continue to monitor.

I'm sure your baby will be fine
