My 11 month old is gearing up to walk. What shoes would you recommend?

I’m only planning to use them outside, inside she’ll be barefoot or in her socks and I’ll be waiting 8 weeks after she starts. I just want to have a plan when the time comes.

If you have a local Clark's then I'd go in there and get her feet measured. They have a range of shoes for first walkers but I actually got my DD's first pair on Vinted because they don't wear them for long.
Managed to get some Clark's shoes on there for a fraction of the price.
I know have a foot measuring thing that I bought online from start rite. They could also be an option for shoes as they have a good selection

Yeah Clark’s pre-walkers are good. Clark’s sales are very good, but that might not be that helpful if you need them now.

Google Clark’s Outlet - there’s less choice but it’s like a permanent sale.

I went to Clark's to get measured then bought some on Vinted for £5! I just got some rubber soled walker ones

Clarks or Start Rite. You can buy their measuring tool things online rather than taking her into the shop. If she has narrow feet I would suggest something high top style with ankle support.

Moonicorn · 21/02/2023 19:48

Kickers are also excellent quality but £££

I’d strongly advise avoiding Clark’s altogether and going with something like Bobux.

Go to your local independent shoe store, proper measuring and fitting, they'll have recommendations about what is best for your child.

Oh wow, a lot of love for Clark’s. I don’t know why they weren’t on my radar, I think I thought they’d fallen out of favour as I hadn’t seen them recently. I buy most of mine online so I never venture into shoe shops.

There is an independent shoe shop with a good name in the next town over, I’ll try there too. I’d be happy to buy secondhand though, most of her clothes are as they’re not in them very long.

Clarks Roamer or Bobux grass court would be my top picks. Nice flexible sole and lots of toe room.

We buy Clarks, Startrite or barefoot brands from Happy Little Soles.

We don't buy secondhand shoes or reuse DD1s for DD2 even though they wear a lot of second-hand clothes. Shoes mould to the shape of the wearer's foot.

We got our first pair from Inchblue. My 19 month old will still pick her Inchblue shoes over other trainers
