Storing food?

I just made a batch of soup for my 1 year old, I usually make a batch that'll last me 2/3 days. I accidentally made a batch too big, and wondering how long you'd leave homemade soup in the fridge before you think you couldn't serve it anymore.

For context, I made 5 days worth of soup, and i'm not sure if it'll last for 5 days, thinking to keep 3 days worth, and freeze the other two.

How long do you make food and let it sit in the fridge for?

I would be comfortable enough to eat it on the on the fifth day of it was just vegetables. If it had meat / dairy / rice in it I might be a bit less relaxed.
