DD4 fever 4 times in 4 weeks!

I'm so worried about my little girl. In the last 4 weeks she's had a fever illness every weekend. 3 weeks ago was a nasty cold with a fever for just one night. 2 weeks ago she had a fever for 5 days and got antibiotics, doctor guessed ear infection because it looked red but wasn't sure. It cleared up anyway. Last weekend she had a fever and was throwing up one evening, all well again the next today. On Tuesday, she came up with a random rash all over her body, doctor said viral, that cleared up. Tonight she has no symptoms but just yet another new fever! I just don't understand what's going on with her! We've had 4 lots of weekend plans ruined, nursery missed, 2 trips to the doctor. What could it possibly be this time with no other symptoms? I just want her to be well 😢

A sad bump. Anyone else got a kid this sick right now?

Theres sooo many bugs going around all the time at the moment. My eldest is constantly picking something up from nursery, but fevers are usually occasional and last for about a day or two.

I think it depends on the child. My youngest has just had a chest infection which began about 3.5 weeks ago and she only had a fever on one of the days and when I took her to be checked she was given antibiotics cos it'd got bad. However, she's had lots of other colds and never had a fever.

My SIL children of similar ages have been the same and been ill back to back for months, but hers get fevers constantly with their bugs and she's always having to dose with calpol and calprofen.

Hopefully they pass soon, but if you're worried about it maybe speak to GP and rule out anything else.

@Monstermoomin thank you for replying 🙏
Yes there's so much going around at the moment. I'd honestly feel better if she had a sniffle/cough/bad tummy with it this time. Makes me think what the hell is it when it's a fever and nothing else. She's been oscillating today between burning up, lying on the sofa, and playing completely normally with no temp. I have health anxiety anyway so this is driving me crazy.

I hope she feels better soon ❤️ xx

We had this back to back bugs thing for the last 3 months of 2022. It was a nightmare but does seem to finally be settling. Hope you're little one is better soon.

I feel your pain because we also have back to back bugs and colds. My little boy (nearly 4) developed yet another fever in the night last night and my 5 month old has one too now. It’s one thing after another. Spring is on the way so hopefully things might improve once winter is over.

My DD (2.5) was so poorly off and on for about a year. She's a covid baby and about October time last year I was catatonic with the lack of sleep and worry. Luckily since then she's not caught anything, even when the rest of the house has. I'm guessing her immune system has built up because of last year. Hoping the same happens for you. But sympathies, it's absolutely wretched

Thanks all. She's no better today, fever still over 38. Still no other symptoms except she says her tummy and hips hurt 😢

If it's unusual for her to say things like that hurt then I'd try and speak to the doctor's to be seen, tummy/hip area pain could be something like a UTI.
