DC Thomson discontinuing Animal Planet

We gave a grandchild a subscription to this and have just received an email from DC Thomson stating 'the publication of Animal Planet Kids magazine by DC Thomson has ceased' and that the February issue, posted to subscribers in January, will be the last. Thomson say they will send two copies of the Beano instead for the remainder of the subscription!

Does anyone know if Animal Planet is being totally discontinued, or if perhaps some other organisation may have taken it on? Or of an alternative animal magazine that might appeal to a child of 7-8?

Grrr!

National Geographic Kids may be an alternative.

Yes National Geographic Kids is the obvious alternative plus Science and Nature magazine is quite good.
These are sold in WHSmith and most supermarkets so you could just buy a couple of copies rather than commit to a subscription.
