Best absorbent - nappy constantly leaking overnight

Hello

My 13 week old is constantly waking up early hours soaked through. We are using size 3 Aldi nappies, he’s roughy 14/15lb.

We are making sure the fasteners are tight, no gaps, leg frills are pulls out but it just doesn’t seem to be helping. Am I missing anything?

Nappy normally lasts about 5 hours at night before he wakes crying because his clothes are wet and his nappy is full.

Can anybody recommend different nappies that offer more protection?

Thanks

We were using Aldi too (also size 3 for 5 month old DS) and leaking so often. We switched to Sainsbury's last week and not a single leak so far! And they're Aldi price matched.

SaltnPeppaPig · 14/02/2023 09:38

I love Sainsbury's too. Better than Pampers.

Aldi nappies past a size 2 never suited any of my babies, they always leaked. I always swapped to Tesco/Sainsbury/Asda for size 3 up.

Sainsbury's own brand. Rascal and friends from Tesco are also great but pricey and trickier to get in smaller sizes

EarlofShrewsbury · 14/02/2023 09:48

Are the bed clothes loose enough to allow the nappy to expand?

I had this problem and it was the vests that were too tight and squeezing the nappy like squeezing a wet sponge

itsmschanandlerbong · 14/02/2023 09:49

We use Aldi through the day, but found he was leaking at night so switched to Aldi and so far no leaks.

itsmschanandlerbong · 14/02/2023 09:49

*switched to pampers at night rather.

MamaBear1022 · 14/02/2023 09:56

We have to use pampers at night and Aldi in the day time

bravotango · 14/02/2023 09:59

I had the same but since sizing up his vests it's stopped, so I think they must have been too short/tight and caused the leaks!

Sotired22 · 14/02/2023 10:03

I find Pampers the best personally. Sainsbury’s always leak for mine, but lots of people like them. Buy a small pack of each and try them out? Pampers are more expensive but if you buy the huge packs on the ‘2 for £x’ deals they don’t work out too bad.

chillichutneysarnie · 14/02/2023 12:00

I agree with Sainsbury's, size up if you can, and buy a pack of extenders for the vest. Honestly the vest extenders were the best thing solved the problem completely for me. Sometimes put two together as well for lots of room

desperadodogface · 14/02/2023 12:14

Is his vest a bit snug? That always causes leakages here

pinkflamingo561 · 14/02/2023 12:21

Sainsbury definitely

CurlyNo2 · 14/02/2023 18:13

Thanks everyone for your replies!

I’ve just been out to buy Sainsbury's nappies so will try those tonight. Fingers crossed 🤞🏼

If they're leaking you need to move up a size. With both of my dcs I found pampers best at night and then used cheaper ones during the day.

Marymary987 · 14/02/2023 18:24

Size up at night! Mine always wore a size larger at night than in the day.

MaverickGooseGoose · 14/02/2023 18:29

Go up a size

Percypiglover · 14/02/2023 21:51

Honestly with both mine at different ages different nappies have worked. I thin on they fit differently, my first Aldi did really well generally but with my second we had periods they didn't. Have tried most Morrisons own fitted my second really well but made my first sore. It really is trial and error. Wilkinson nappies are good again depending on the fit!

Lap91 · 14/02/2023 21:59

We were having this issue, DS is almost 16lbs now but generally doesn't wake in the night. We use Aldi size 3 in the day and Tesco size 4 at night and not had a single leak since switching!

CurlyNo2 · 15/02/2023 08:50

Update!

So the new Sainsburys nappy lasted last night but I think I should have sized up so I’ll take another trip down there for a bigger size. They are quite deceiving as they look and feel paper think but when we took it off this morning it was bulging but no leaks!

Thanks everyone x

My baby is 10 weeks old my top 2 night nappies are:

Boots superdry nappies
Nutmeg(morrisons)

I bought a pack from pretty much every supermarket and just tested to find the best ones!

AmySma1 · 15/02/2023 17:02

Hi, hijacking this thread just to ask if these nappies are best for a 3 year old overnight? Or are there others, we're not wet dry in the day so nappies or pull ups are fine. Thank You!!!

SaltnPeppaPig · 15/02/2023 22:05

I use Sainsbury's on my three year olds as well as the baby!

Glad the Sainsbury's worked for you OP!
