Formula feeding advice

Dd is 10 days old.
she feeds every 2.5-3 hours roughly 1.5-3oz. Does this sound about right. The tin says x6 feeds of 3oz for her age.

Also she poops during every feed is that normal? Does that mean I’m over feeding her? Her poops are grainy rather than liquid-almost like mustard?

she also struggles badly with wind especially between 1am and 5am. I burp her lots but she just spends all night wiggling on her back until she’s picked up.
im getting no sleep and have a toddler too. Hubby does the first half of the night shift with her.

They do poo a lot in the beginning as their digestive system is immature, but just to make you aware, my baby was like this, poos at every happy change, excessively windy etc eventually the poos turned mucusy, a rash appeared and she had bad reflux ! Turned out to be cmpa, so just a warning. What formula are you using ?

Morning, and hello from the other side of all of this.

I can remember just feeling desperate when dealing with newborn DD at night and knowing id have bouncy DS toddler all next day! You're doing great and things will get easier.

Poo every feed - normal. Overfeeding is so rare in babies this size and from what I recall poo of an overfed baby tends to be absolutely foul smelling and very runny. Plus lots of vomiting.

If she's taking it happily I wouldn't reduce the offering. Don't coax her into finishing bottles or read the guide to the letter, just feed on demand and trust that she'll likely take what she needs.

You must be exhausted, I hope recovery is going okay and you have good support around you.

Hello lovely.
Sounds pretty normal my baby pooped almost everytime she had a bottle. ( weirdly my partner does the same he has a meal and has to poop lol)

Also look up paced and responsive feeding, the tin will be just a guide but you feed and much or as little and baby wants.

Few tips to help the wind.
When making the bottle don't shake it, stir using a spoon shaking it introduces lots of bubbles.
Try infacol of the above doesn't help.
Make sure baby is sitting up as much aa possible and sits up after the bottle for a little bit ( maybe over ur shoulder? Or in a sling if you have to run after ur toddler)

@davegrohll Thank you. We’re using Kendamil. She seems to like it and we have only a tiny bit of spit up at the moment. Will definitely keep an eye out for rashes and mucous though. My first daughter was also wriggly in the early hours and she had silent reflux in the end, although she didn’t poop quite as much.

@NeverMindTryAgain thank you so much for your kind words and encouragement. I’m trying to wreck my brains thinking at what point it all got slightly more predictable with my first but I can’t remember.

@JLQ1020 thank you for the tips. Yes we’re been swirling rather than shaking bottles. Yes will also give infacol a go.

Bless her she doesn’t really get upset with the wind but she just can’t really rest. It’s so crazy during the day she sleeps like a statue not a murmur or movement. Then at night it’s like a noisy wriggle party.
